The Walden Community Council has been so busy lately that we have not had the time to update our website.  Let me apologize for not having up to date information.  We are working on this and should have things sorted out pretty soon.

In the meantime there will be old but new information posted.  By that I mean original Main Street Grant announcements, Walden Harvest Fest 2011 pictures, Walden Honorees, winners in our Business Storefront Christmas Decoration contest, Walden Harvest Fest 2012 meeting schedule, Music in the Grove plans and just plain WCC news.

Let me congratulate Sandy Magill, Jean Winum, and Sue Hermance for a job well done while I have been in Florida.  They all are a very gracious and competent board.  How lucky can you get?

My goal is to have an up to date website- if not completely done but partially complete in the next few months.

Luckily the winter was a mild one.  That in its self-meant very few cancellations.

I am proud to forward this announcement.  Just under an hour ago the Governor released his list of priority projects awarded by the Regional Economic Development Council’s. The Mid Hudson Region was awarded 67 million and the WALDEN COMMUNITY COUNCIL in collaboration with the Village was awarded $337,000 to rehabilitate and revitalize 23 commercial and 8 residential mixed-use buildings, and streetscapes in the eastern half of the Village of Walden’s commercial business district!!!

Congrats to the Village and the Community Council for working together and the lobbying efforts made on this projects behalf.

Our amphitheater project also got one of the highest grades from our regional council and the NY State Parks Department will be announcing their awards in the near future.  GREAT THINGS HAPPENING IN WALDEN!!!!!

As Harvest Fest is approaching at a rapid pace, all hands are on deck (PLEASE).  This year we are celebrating two milestones together.  The Walden Harvest Fest in its 25^th year and The Walden Community Council in its 15^th year.  If there is one thing I know be ready for one big celebration.  Planning meetings for Harvest Fest are the last Wednesday of each month at The NY School of Music.

Please pass the word that you can still purchase a personalized brick to placed in Walden Veterans Memorial Park. For more information, please contact Brenda  or Nat.

The Flag Day Ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park was absolutely wonderful. The Committee is to be congratulated for all their hard work.

On May 13^th the RAGNAR Relay Race took place.  The Village of Walden’ s checkpoint wa

s held at the Thruway Market parking lot. The runners voted the community with the best checkpoint.  The results are in and WE WON!!!!!

The sale of bricks for Walden Memorial Park has been very successful.  Please stay tuned for further information on this project.

As many of you know by now, the lottery calendar has been a huge success. On May 13^th and 14^th there is going to be a Ragnar Relay Race taking place.  There will be several different checkpoints along the way and this year they will be stopping in the Village of Walden at the Thruway Market parking lot.
