It’s our 24th year of showing off our Walden Pride! Last year was one of our best years yet with close to 100 vendors and over 1000 people who came out to enjoy the day. This year will be even bigger and better! We will have Live music, food, contests, vendors, and much much more. The Walden Community Council looks forward to seeing everyone come out and be a part of this annual celebration.

2010 Music in the Grove Highlights

We’re 6 weeks in to the Music in the Grove series for 2010 and it’s been a tremendous success. Thanks again to all of our sponsors, musicians, and Rocco’s for providing food.

National Night Out 2010

Tuesday, August 3rd 2010, 6pm – 9pm. Bradley Park, Walden

This is Walden’s 5th year participating in this nationwide event.

Residents are reminded to shine their porch lights as part of their support for this police/community partnership.

There will be food, games, vendors, FIREWORKS and many give-a-ways, all free at this event.

Walden is one of the few communities in the region to host this event and this year the WPD is being joined by each village in the town, the town police and the town of Shawangunk!

The WCC will have a booth at the event and we will be raffling off 50 bicycles. Thanks to all that made this even possible, specially Mike Scolaro of Scolaro’s bike shop who has donated labor and parts and TLC Thrift Shop and Millspaugh Furniture.

Free Concert Series Start 7/10

The Music in the Grove Summer Concert Series begins again this summer with concerts on Saturday evenings in July and August at the Walden Rotary Rail Trail Theater at Wooster Memorial Grove, East Main Street. See the Events Calendar for details.

Veterans Memorial Park

The Walden Community Council, in cooperation with the Village of Walden, local veterans groups, and residents of Walden completely renovated the small park located on the west side of the “upper” bridge (the Walden Veteran’s Memorial Bridge) which included the purchase of a Flag Pole, installing solar lighting, and a complete landscaping over-haul. The committee that started the park’s renovation over a year ago was called Project 365 and lead by Bobby Montenaro.

The park, known as the Veteran’s Memorial Park, was completed in time for the Memorial Day Parade 2010 and a Flag Day Ceramony.

The WCC is now working on getting pavers which it will sell, engrave and install on the paths at the park. All proceeds from the sales of the pavers will go into the on-going maintenance of the park.

Grand Opening of Rail Trail

The WCC was among the many organizations distributing information about restaurants, shops and events to users of the new Wallkill-Walden Rail Trail. The WBA also developed a Rail Trail map for the event which gave local businesses yet another opportunity to advertise their businesses. Rail Trail maps can be found in kiosks at the Walden side of the Rail Trail as well as in the Rail Trail Welcome Center in Wooster’s Grove.
