Walden’s Harvest Fest
The Annual Walden Harvest Fest will be held on October 2nd this year. Planning meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Community Room of the Municipal Building. All residents, businesses, and organizations are encouraged to help to make this a successful event. Check the events calendar for the next meeting.

Music in the Grove Summer Concert Series
Each year the WCC organizes a free summer concert series right here in Walden. This year’s series is completely booked and will certainly be a great time. Come see for yourself on select Saturdays (and one Monday) at Wooster Grove at 6:30 pm. Click on the title above for more details.
Main Street Revitalization
One of the biggest initiatives that the WCC is currently spearheading is the Revitalization of Main Street. Through a grant offered by New York State, Walden business owners have been able to secure and use more than $150,000 to renovate their buildings so far. On the heals of a very successful Grant program in 2008, the WCC has applied for a larger grant in 2010 to continue the momentum. Additional details can be found on the Main Street Revitalization page.
Appearance & Beautification
In addition to heading the Main Street Revitalization project, the Walden Community Council many projects to help beautify the Village of Walden including plantings at the village entrance signs, the complete rehabilitation of Veterans Memorial Park, and many more. The WCC even holds an annual Home Flower Garden Contest to encourage the community to also beautify the village. Click on the title above for project details and pictures.
Student Scholarships
Did you know the Walden Community Council has a Scholarship Committee that offers grants to local students? Applications come in the dozens during the grant cycle and are reviewed by our members for award. See the Scholarship page for more details and if you are interested in learning more about our Scholarship committee or contributing.
Local Business Support and Promotion
One of the WCC’s primary objectives is to assist Walden business owners in uplifting and beautifying the business community. To that end, the WCC has created a separate committee, the Walden Business Association (WBA), to focus on these efforts. In addition to the WBA, the WCC spotlights a local business quarterly in its newsletter and provides a unified voice which can present ideas and/or issues to Village Officials to facilitate positive change.
Christmas Tree Lighting and Christmas on Main Street
Each year the WCC and WBA get heavily involved in the Village of Walden Christmas Tree Lighting and Christmas on Main Street (see the Walden Business Association page for more information on this year’s event). Both of these events encourage residents to be proud of everything thier village has to offer.
We also support these great causes:
- National Night Out
- The Walden Farmer’s Market
- The Soap Box Derby
